Andrea Demetriou is a poet, music performer, journalist and political activist. She was born in Cyprus raised in Melbourne and currently lives in Greece. Her first poetry-photography book, The Mountains Couldn’t Walk Away was introduced and edited by major Greek poet Nanos Valaoritis and refers to the destruction of her childhood world by the Turkish invasion in Cyprus . Her third collection of poetry The Inconsolable Clock was edited by Peter Lyssiotis, it expands from the wars for resources to the existential dead end; with an introduction by Christos Tsiolkas, it was published in 2017 to much acclaim.
